The embryo of Abandon Agony began its journey in the womb in early 2023. The initiator and father of this fetus was Tobias Järvelä, former guitarist in Memoria and Dragon Steel, among others. Robin Toresson (formerly of Memoria and Goddess Cult) on drums joined early on as second guardian. A meeting with Christoffer Tönnäng regarding the recording and planning of a music video for Memoria did not result in a music video, but instead unexpectedly led to a third member and Abandon Agony’s second guitarist was thus hammered out. During a dark and wet evening at Trollhättan’s hardest rock bar, Tobias found a bearded Viking behind the beer barrels who would prove to be awesome not only at tapping beer, but also turned out to be a really sharp bass player. After a test rehearsal, it was clear, Jonathan Wagerland was thus the fourth member to join the family. 

However, finding a singer would prove to take slightly longer than desired. Johan Hedström (singer in Memoria, Rocket Leg) was asked early on but said no. After trying out various singers, Johan was asked again and finally joined the group of parents in September 2023.

The band was complete and the fetus would now begin to take its final form and continue to grow and develop into the monster it is today.

Abandon Agony immediately started recording their first EP and only two weeks after the band was complete, they had their first live gig in the neighboring town of Vänersborg. Since then, the band has continued to work on the EP and music video while having live gigs in Trollhättan and Uddevalla, among other places. On February 9, 2024, Abandon Agony will release their first single and music video that will be available on all social platforms and streaming services. New song material will be released gradually during the spring.
